A Life Worth Imitating
Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith (Hebrews 13:7 NIV).Who is the leader that is most memorable to you? It may have been your manager, a community leader, a pastor, or a great politician. You have most likely thought of at least one -- perhaps several. People remember great leaders.
Most leaders are remembered for the outcomes of their work, the results they achieved, and the positive ways in which they treated people while in leadership. The results of leadership are often multifaceted. Followers view leaders in their professional roles, their interpersonal roles, and even their family roles. People remember great leaders who get results.
Not only are great leaders who get results remembered, but they are also imitated. People subtly adapt the techniques and even character qualities of their leaders. If the leader creates a positive environment, the followers will try to do the same. If the leader creates an atmosphere of mistrust, the followers will also follow suit.
If you are in a leadership position at work, at church, or in your home, ask yourself this question: "Am I demonstrating a life worth imitating?"
