Absent Leadership
Where there is no leadership the people fall, but in an abundance of counselors there is safety (Proverbs 11:14).What happens when people who are able to lead don't lead? If no one steps in and takes the lead, groups will become frustrated. They are not able to translate their ideas into workable plans to which they all agree. Many of these teams will fail.
God raised up Moses to be the leader of Israel. Who would want to lead this group? They were slaves in Egypt. They had no leaders. Even Moses did not want to lead them, but God persuaded him, and Moses obeyed and led them out of Egypt as a great demonstration of God's power. What would have happened to the Israelites if Moses had not taken on this assignment?
Leaders are important in fulfilling God's purpose. If you see a leadership void and feel that you may be able to offer a vision and persuade people to follow your plan, you may be God's instrument, like Moses, intended to provide direction and support for people.
When leading, lead humbly, and look for advice from others. Great leaders use the views of others to provide a balanced perspective for solving problems. Leaders at every level recognize that they are not experts in everything, but they are adept at synthesizing many views and opinions to arrive at a common good.
Be a willing leader, who steps up to the challenge. Use the gift that God has given you.
